What Not To Do With Your SEO
There is a lot of information out there, including SEO blogs, SEO newsletters, and other SEO publications that will tell you exactly what to do in order to get the most out of your SEO campaign. This post is going to tell you what not to do. Of course there are a lot of things that you should not do for SEO, but there is one that we will discuss today.
Old, outdated content.
This is most important when you are using a blog to drive targeted traffic, or any traffic at all. This blog over the last 6-7 months is a perfect example of what not to do. There have not been many posts, so the content has become practically dead. We will not go into the advance reasons for this, but in laymen’s terms, Google continued to come back to crawl this blog and eventually started to see that there was no new content, so it pretty much gave up on the site and stopped looking for content. However, this will not happen as long as you continue to add new content, preferablly unique. It does not have to be everyday, or every other day. Once a week is better than nothing.
Set a schedule that works best for you. If you are the one in charge of the blog and the only “employee” of the blog or company, than pick a time during the day that gives you 30-45 minutes to sit down and write. If your goal is to write a blog post everyday, you don’t have to actually write it every single day. Take a few hours out on the weekend and write 3-5 posts on a Saturday and Sunday. I am a WordPress only guy, so you can schedule posts within the Add New Post section of the dashboard.
Keep your content fresh and unique and do not allow yourself to fall behind on updating your blog. You will pretty much kill your blog and your traffic will also.
